"The Cuban Atlas Series", 

2015-Present

In May 2015 I visited Cuba for the first time, after many years of desiring to do so, and was smitten with its natural beauty and vibrancy, with the struggles of common folk to get by and make do, with its creativity and grace, and with the beauty and warmth of its people.

I had the good fortune to acquire, among the book dealers in the Plaza de Armas, an oversize Atlas Nacional de Cuba, published in 1970 "the 10th anniversary of the Revolution," as the title page states. By combining pages of the disbound atlas, I create these improvised portraits....
