San Julian Street Installation

In the Chapel of Poverty, Humility, and Dignity, the original San Julian Street painting is paired with a suite of nine digital remixes of the portraits. Throughout the chapels, all of the artworks hang from an ingenious system of bamboo pole structures that complement the honey-toned stone walls and floors.

The Chapel of Accepting the Other

This chapel-like installation speaks to our troubled history of misjudging and disparaging others; of what we have lost and suffered; and of how to move forward.

 San Ysidro Drive Altarpiece

This site-specific installation of San Ysidro Drive is inspired by the saint's position as patron saint of day laborers, gardeners, and farm workers. Ysidro's portrait (that of a gardener employed on San Ysidro Drive, in Bel-Air) is complemented by a collection of rakes, shovels, a hoe, and posthole digger. A trio of potted hibiscus plants completes the scene.
