Like many people, I get telemarketer phonecalls. So I decided to do something about it.
I recognize that the women who work at these jobs did not grow up wanting to be telemarketers: these are just simply the jobs they could find.
So I decided to make them Geisha Mermaids, and let them have another life.
While I was working on this series I would ask each telemarketer her name, and then create a portrait of her.
I gave Katreesha a medieval Japanese love poem, to complement (as I imagined them) her deep brooding eyes.
