Sumi-ink Paintings as empathic love offerings to Women, by Los Angeles artist J. Michael Walker

Katreesha, My Love
by J Michael Walker, 2005
Sumi ink and acrylic wash on canvas, 24” high x 24” wide

One day I decided to do something about telemarketer phonecalls.
I decided to turn the women calling me, about toner and interest rates and aluminum siding into Geisha Mermaids, to let them have another life.
I asked each telemarketer her name, and created a portrait of her.

I gave Katreesha a medieval Japanese love poem, to complement (as I imagined them) her deep brooding eyes.
