One thing I heard repeatedly expressed was how frequently women were mystified by the lack of communication from the men in their lives.

They seemed to spend considerable time analyzing what was really meant by what was, or was not, said - much as this geisha mermaid reads between the lines of the rare missive that floats to shore.
