“J Michael Walker sees angels everywhere, the divine in the ordinary, saints in survivors.
And that, in our era of fear and rage, is enough for me."
- Sandra Cisneros,  author of The House on Mango Street and Caramelo

J. Michael Walker is a visual artist and writer whose work, woman-centric in conception,
is grounded in his immersion in Latin American cultures.

Over the past 25 years, J. Michael has participated in more than one hundred art exhibitions;
received a dozen grants, fellowships, and artist residencies  (Most recently from the Sacatar Foundation, Bahia, Brazil); and has enjoyed a dozen solo shows in both the United States and Mexico.

As a writer, J Michael is author-illustrator of All the Saints of the City of the Angels: Seeking the Soul of L.A. on Its Streets (Heyday 2008), which was awarded Art Book of the Year and Best Non-fiction on the Pacific West; and is co-editor of Waiting for Foreign: LA Writers on (and in) Guadalajara (Peregrino Press 2010).
